How to run a classroom snacks sign-up
Snack calendars usually go home on paper, get lost in backpacks and come back with two families on the same week. This sheet gives each week a single spot, so the first family to pick a week gets it and everyone else sees it is taken. Families sign up with a first name or "Ava's mom", nothing more: no email address, phone number or account, which keeps student and family information off advertising-supported sign-up sites. The teacher or room parent keeps a private organizer link to swap weeks or remove a sign-up.
- Change the room number in the title and the class size and allergy rules in the note.
- Rename the weeks with real dates if you like ("Week of Nov 3"), or keep "Week 1, Week 2" for a reusable list.
- Create the sheet and paste the share link into your class newsletter, app or email.
- Print the filled-in schedule for the classroom door, and keep the organizer link to make changes.
Tips
- Put the allergy rule in the note, not in each slot: it shows at the top of the sheet.
- Add one or two supply slots (napkins, wipes) for families who can't do a whole week of snacks.
- Kids' names stay off the sheet if families sign up as "Ava's family" rather than with a full name.
- With no event date the sheet deletes itself after 90 days; make a new one for the next term.
